In anticipation for their CD-release show next weekend, City on the Make are offering a complete stream of their new album. Those who are already familiar with City on the Make's gritty blend of rock, blues, punk, hip hop may be a little surprised by the new album, as it features a few more experimental tracks and softer moments than their debut full-length or last year's $1,000,000 EP. But those unfamiliar with the band would do well to check out their newest effort, as it features a mix of new work and a few fan favorites that the band has been playing live for years.

Stream the new City on the Make album, Keep This on Fire.

Here's a word from City on the Make singer Mike Massey about the new album:
These eleven tracks were recorded over the winter and spring of 2009, beginning the first week of January in a small cabin in Northern Minnesota, and finished up in a dingy South Minneapolis basement that progressively grew more littered with empties, tangled in wires, and shut off from the rest of the world. We are very proud of this record and happy to have it done. We regard it as our most cohesive release to date, and are pleased that the last year has provided us with this particular body of work. These songs have grown to mean a lot of different things to each of us, and we hope that you will take a chance to listen to the record.
City on the Make will play a CD-release show for Keep This on Fire on Friday, July 3 at the 400 Bar with Crunkmonster (18+, $10, 9pm).

Keep an eye out for next week's print edition of City Pages, where we will profile the band and review their new CD. And for now, stream the new album and re-visit their recently-released music video for "Chicks on Bikes," which just might be my favorite video of the summer.
