Performs Marathon 1, a nonstop 26.2-hour performance of a single song at the Turf Club in St. Paul.

November 2, 2001
Armed with samplers, amplifiers, and a guitar, he spends 10 consecutive hours playing from inside a large cardboard box in the window of the CD Warehouse in Dinkytown.

September 4-6, 2004
Marathon 2, the 52.4-hour performance of a single song, takes place at the Turf once again and calls upon 628 pages of lyrics and nearly 70 backing musicians. Mallman attempts to enter the feat into the Guinness Book of World Records as the "world's longest pop song," but is rejected because Guinness "questioned the nature of what a song is."

Plays seven consecutive nights at the Hexagon Bar, with guests that include Dosh, the Beatifics, Revolver Modele, and Vicious Vicious

A ramp is constructed onstage and Mallman rides a motor scooter up the ramp and onto his keyboard, playing notes with the wheels of the scooter.

December 31, 2008
In an attempt to be the first person to play piano in mid air, a caped Mallman is hoisted above the crowd in a harness, assisted by two men dressed as rats. He plays piano while dangling above the crowd, then flies a kite over the crowd using a leaf blower.
