Mason Jennings interviewed on CNN.com

Mason Jennings is officially now national breaking news. It's quite a coup for the local singer songwriter, who has been in the upper echelons of our local folk rock scene for a decade; in support of his forthcoming album Blood of Man, CNN.com yesterday ran a favorable, brief review, and a lengthy interview with Jennings.
Mason Jennings live.
In the interview, Jennings mentions his passion for meditation and yoga were huge influences. Check it for yourself:
CNN: How did your newfound practice of meditation affect "Blood of Man"?
Jennings: I would think that if you go that inward that even more demons would come up, but it was the opposite. I started doing a lot of yoga, pretty intensely, right when I started recording these songs. So I have a feeling that it was a big part of getting into my body -- getting physical and connecting with my spirit and allowing me to get free. It was a big part of this record, strangely, because [the record] is so dark and raw, but the whole time I [knew] I could handle it.
Way to go, CNN. It's been a long road for Jennings, and a lot of work to get this kind of badly needed national attention. Being called "one of the best songwriters you've never heard of" tends to be a self-defeating prophecy. After all, look at the adoring crowd in the video above. That's a statistically significant portion of the American public.
