After gaining fame in the 90s as launchpad of female singer-songwriters like Sarah McLachlan, Liz Phair, and Suzanne Vega, Lilith Fair, the all-woman festival inexplicably ceased activity, despite huge earnings and a good rep.

Well, fear not, you XX owners and advocates-- Lilith Fair will return in 2010, touring the U.S., with a Minneapolis stop.

The details are scant, the website bare bones, the line-up undisclosed. But yes indeed, the announcement is official.

From Lilith Fair's new website:

Lilith 2010 promises to be a much bigger summer festival than it was in the past, traveling for the first time overseas and celebrating a mix of international artists and local up-and-comers. To capture the new energy of Lilith, Vancouver's Traction Creative was brought on board to reinvigorate the Lilith brand--the new look is revealed today for the first time with the launch of the website.

That's the long and the short of it. Keep your eyes on Gimme Noise for further updates, and get your Indigo Girls out of storage. It's time to bone up on your adult female contemporary.
