Amen and the Hell Yeahs at Memory Lanes tonight

So, you got yelled at by your beady eyed boss, and for no good reason. Boom--another lovely work week is underway. Another day of contemplating the old swan dive from an uncomfortable psychological distance.

This, people, is why punk music was invented, and it's why Memory Lanes, the inner city's premium bowling alley/punk rock venue, keeps their doors open on Mondays. Tonight, Amen and the Hell Yeahs and the Manix do their damndest to ease the pain.

Punk rock is an angry, frustrated genre. But the workaday world is an angry, frustrated world. Even if you don't have an ear for it, punk music serves a vital function--it's that oh so important safety valve that keeps you from keeping company with Patrick Sherrill in the hereafter.

And what better ambassadors of the genre to initiate a Monday bowl-a-little-drink-a-little visit to Memory Lanes? Amen and the Hell Yeahs have had a remarkably overactive weekend, having played more than their share of houses and bars in the last couple days. Ditto the Manix, a pop punk outfit that, despite crafting adeptly harmonious punk miniatures, manage to fly beneath the radar of anyone not in earshot of the punk scene.

Get out there. Your shitty boss will still be there tomorrow and the day after. Punk is now. Don't let the moment pass.
