Heart of a Champion announces winter, spring releases
It's not their official logo, but it kinda should be.
Heart of a Champion, in addition to having one of the best label names in recent memory, has long been a fierce pugilist on behalf of the unheard. Works by major names like Sean Na Na and Lifter Puller have always been anchored by subterranean valuables like Lucky Jeremy and Die Electric!
And this morning, Heart of a Champion announced its winter and spring release plans to the public. Head below the jump for the details!

Miles of Skies of Light CD (HoC-030)
December 26, 2009
GOST TRIO is a Brooklyn band made up of former Capital!Capital dudes Frank Bevan, Jacob Sharff, and Andrew Beccone, who many of you know and love. The ten song CD was recorded by Dean Baltulonis (The Hold Steady) and mastered by Dave Gardner. The initial pressing of 500 will have this pretty silkscreened digipak. The release show is also their first Twin Cities appearance, at the Turf on December 26 with The Blind Shake, The Dynamiters, and Loose Limbs. Show of the winter, as far as I'm concerned!
Political Disco LP+CD (HoC-028)
out late January/early February 2010
This is the second album by The Grabs - an indie-pop supergroup of sorts from L.A - but their first for us. Fronted by Eleni Mandell (who has more Heart of a Champion releases under her belt than anybody), the group also features Steve Gregoropolous (Lavender Diamond, W.A.C.O.) on guitar & keyboards, Nigel Harrison (Blondie) on bass, and Elvira Gonzales (Silversun Pickups) on percussion. A bunch of other musicians make guest appearances, most notably Clem Burke (Blondie) and D.J. Bonebrake (X) - each on drums. It's much more uptempo and light-hearted than Eleni's solo material, but is unbelievably catchy. I love this record. It's going to be a vinyl only release, with CD copies included in each one (no separate CD release).
