DC emcee Wale broke out this week, releasing his first official album following a steady string of acclaimed mixtapes. The Hood Internet was there to get in on the Attention Deficit festivities, blending the airy background of electro-hippies Black Moth Super Rainbow with Wale's homage to A Tribe Called Quest, "World Tour." Don't forget: the Hood will be performing with Solid Gold at First Avenue tonight.

Another month, another leg of their world tour promoting their Bootie parties, another Bootie Top 10 list. This month A plus D collect tracks from the likes of Boston's Lenlow, Austria's Clive$ter, Brighton's the Kleptones, and offer up an exclusive rehash of a recent Glee mashup.

Also, last week I had a chance to catch up with the duo over at Mashuptown for a brief interview; as some of the premier names in bastard pop, it was a privilege to pick their brains.

DJ not-I returns this week with a bootleg combining the British synth-pop of Heaven 17 with one of the Fugees' biggest hits, "Ready or Not." It's always exciting to step into a track being half (if not completely) unaware of what you might be getting into, and having never heard of Heaven 17 before, that feeling accompanied the first listen to the song. Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised--hope you are too.

Having heard "Self Esteem" by the Offspring more times than I should probably confess to, it's safe to say that the song has burned itself into a small portion of my brain, where it will likely remain until I die. G3RSt recently made the connection between the song and Eagle-Eye Cherry's one-hit wonder, "Save Tonight." While hearing "Self Esteem" isn't exactly at the top of my to-do list, this track offers a strange comparison between the two, reflecting not only on how similar they sound, but how little you have to do musically to have a smash (excuse the pun) hit.

Recently dj erb got behind the production of a track featuring NYC emcee Skeetabugg to create an original song, "Big City Livin'." It's not a mashup, and I hadn't previously heard of Skeetabugg, but congrats to erb for his efforts: it's got a great flow I applaud his ability to step out and succeed at create something fresh & original.
