Starting this Sunday, 89.3 the Current will debut a new regular weekly program "United States of Americana," hosted by Current staffer Bill DeVille. The show will delve into music with country and roots influences, covering genres like folk, bluegrass, and alt-country -- from what we gather, it will be similar to the now-defunct "Morning Show" with Dale Connelly and Jim Ed Poole, but geared toward a younger audience. The first in-studio guest on "United States of Americana" will be Roseanne Cash, so it seems like they're off to a good start already.
From the press release:
Much of the new music heard on US of A will be the more country-influenced side of music already featured on The Current. The show will also feature influential artists of the last 60
years who have shaped the sound of alt-country music.
United States of Americana debuts this Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
