The Grammy's are this Sunday, will you watch?
![]() |
Just look at the nominees for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration:
"I'm On A Boat" - The Lonely Island & T-Pain
"Knock You Down" - Keri Lilson, Kanye West & Ne-Yo
"Run This Town" - Jay-Z, Rihanna & Kanye West
"Ego" - Beyoncé & Kanye West
"Dead And Gone" - T.I. & Justin Timberlake
That's right, the Lonely Island's joke song "I'm On A Boat," a
satirical stab at the music industry and auto-tune, is seriously up for
a Grammy. Kanye West has a three-fifths chance of winning that
category.
Listed performers include Beyoncé; the Black Eyed Peas; Bon Jovi; Lady Antebellum; Lady Gaga; Maxwell; Pink; Taylor Swift; the Zac
Brown Band; Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, etc. etc.
For all of you who cringed with every subsequent name you read on that list, there are a few redeeming artists at the Grammy's that have the potential to surprise and offer some sense of vindication. Take, for example, Wilco.
Best Americana Album: Wilco (The Album)
Here are a few artists for you to chew on from a few less-known categories:
Best Contemporary Blues Album: The Derek Trucks Band
Best Electronic/Dance Album: The Crystal Method - Divided By Night
Just for fun, check out Best New Wave Album nominee Henta Ellis performing this song live, if that's your thing.
