Andrew W. K. headed to Shakopee this August
The bad news? Andrew W. K., the inscrutable rock God, will be washing into Shakopee on the rather unappealing wave of the Vans Warped Tour, backed by a raft of punk and metal bands.
The good news? Andrew W. K. is coming. Like, for real. To Minnesota. With a full band. Head below the jump for details.
Andrew W. K. He's everywhere you want to be.
The announcement was quietly made on Andrew W. K.'s website, and is supported by his entry on the Warped Tour's site as well--Andrew W. K. will be the headlining act, which means, somewhat regrettably, that you'll have to sit through Dillinger Escape Plan and Disco Curtis to ultimately party hard.
But, after almost half a decade of touring as a pianist, motivational speaker, and improvisational dancer, Mr. Wilkes-Krier is at last touring proper with a full band behind him. It's the first such tour for him in over four years, and fans should expect his monstrous party hits from I Get Wet to be ballasted by sneakier masterpieces from Close Calls With Brick Walls (which is, if anyone cares to know, one of the best rock and roll albums of the last decade).
Anyone who's read Gimme Noise in the last two years knows that we are extraordinarily partial to Andrew W. K. If you've never given him the time, August 1 will be the time and place to do it.
Sunday, August 1. Canterbury Downs, Shakopee Minnesota.
