Baby Dee anounces new album, tour

It's a weird world, and sometimes weird coincidences make your aware of weird performers that, by all rights, you ought to have fallen in love with long ago.
But we didn't konw the name Baby Dee until, while reading up on the equally mysterious Andrew W. K., we found out that the Man In White worked with Baby Dee on her last album, Safe Inside The Day.
What we discovered was a wing nut poet of a very high caliber. Today, in an announcement through Drag City, Baby Dee announced a new album, A Book Of Songs for Anne Marie, and a tour that will bring her through Minneapolis this April.
Baby Dee live at Wilton's.
Baby Dee is pretty hard to summarize. So rather than do it ourselves and stick our feet in our mouths, will let Dee do it herself. From her personal website:
I was born in Cleveland Ohio. This album is very much about the street I grew upNot bad. The harpist and performance artist who has collaborated with the likes of the Sex Pistols and Antony and the Johnsons is a gifted if impenetrable songwriter. But the more we hear and the mroe digging we do, the more convinced we are that the most bizarre ore yields the finest alloy.
on.
Where The Earlie King ruled without mercy. And Bobby Slot and Freddy Weiss
invented the Dance of Diminishing Possibilities.
I left for New York in 1972 and eventually became a musician. I was good at the
sacred and I was good at the profane but I could never get the hang of anything
in between and I went from the street to the church to the street again and then
I stopped.
Her new album is due on Drag City in 2010. Check out her dates below.
