The Decemberists, Dave Matthews, many more record music for Haiti

The disaster in Haiti has resulted in hundreds of thousands of deaths, and many musicians are doing what they can to raise a few bucks for the Haitian people. 

While some bands have more means than others to help the poor country out, efforts by some commercially successful artists like Dave Matthews and Justin Timberlake are pretty damn impressive, and are offering serious benefits to music lovers who want to get their hands on some free tunes.

Here are some of the efforts musicians are putting forth to help out the poor country, and what's in it for you:

​Donate through Paste and get 200 MP3s

Paste magazine launched 'Songs for Haiti,' which features songs from The Decemberists, Andrew Bird, Bob Mould, She & Him, Ben Folds and others. Donate on the web site to receive more than 200 MP3s from artists that have opted to put their songs on the site. All proceeds benefit The Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund.

​Donate to Linkin Park's foundation and grab some unreleased tracks

Suggested donations will get you a ticket to the compilation, "Download to Donate for Haiti," a free album featuring unreleased songs from artists like Peter Gabriel, Alanis Morissette, Dave Matthews Band and Linkin Park themselves. Impressively, the album was put together in less than a week. It's available for download at the website for Music for Relief, the nonprofit started by the Los Angeles Linkin Park in 2005.

Music for Relief's spokesperson told us today that so far they've raised about $100,000, which she said is going straight to the United Nation Foundation's Central Emergency Response Fund.

​ MTV's "Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief"

This star-studded show, organized by George Clooney, brought in some serious cash for Haiti, and we can already grab a recording of it. Performance album of MTV's "Hope for Haiti Now" is already available to iTunes customers for $7.99, as well and the full two-hour video telecast ($1.99).

Performers included Madonna and Haitian artist Emeline Michel, as well as Wyclef Jean, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira and Sting in New York. In L.A., Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder and Taylor Swift.

It also included appearances by Brad Pitt, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Clint Eastwood, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Jon Stewart, Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Meryl Streep, Morgan Freeman, Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hanks and Will Smith, George Clooney, Wyclef Jean and CNN's Anderson Cooper reporting from Haiti.
