We Are the Willows play the Kitty Cat Klub this Sunday
And now, a week later, I've watched this video a creepy number of times.
Where does one go from here? I've only heard one other We Are the Willows song so far, in part because I'm afraid that I won't like the other songs nearly as much as this one. It's something strange that only happens to me once in a great while, especially given how much new music I try to digest on a daily basis -- it's not often that a song finds me, instead of vice versa, and when it happens, it's usually pretty intense.
Has this ever happened to you? Am I an obsessive weirdo? Either way, I'm taking a chance this weekend and heading to the Kitty Cat Klub Sunday night to hear We Are the Willows live. I'm hoping that I love all of their songs as much as I love "A Funeral Dressed as a Birthday," even though I probably won't. But at least I know that for five minutes on Sunday night I'll get to hear the song that I know all the words too, and a shiver will run up my spine during the last chorus just like it does every time I play that damn video. And sometimes, that's the best one can ask for out of a live performance: A fleeting sense of familiarity and the tingling feeling of anticipation, realized.
We are the Willows play with the Daredevil Christopher Wright, Laarks, and Cedarwell on Sunday, January 31 at the Kitty Cat Klub.
