FRIDAY:

Hit Like a Girl
(Pink Hobo Geek Art Gallery, 507 E Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, 612.216.3924, pinkhobo.com)

For this group show 20 artists were asked to interpret what it means to "hit like a girl." Expect colorful interpretations and flashy artwork. At the opening party tonight there will be real hard-hitters, the Minnesota RollerGirls will be in a raucous mood and in full gear. Proceeds from tips and art sales will benefit Foundation IX, a local organization that helps girls overcome financial difficulties in sports and fitness participation. 7-10 p.m.

Walker Fields & the Western Ridge
(Clubhouse Jager, 923 Washington Ave. N., Minneapolis, 612.332.2686)

Butcher's Bag, the Church of Abject Sorrow, Cry Coyote, Royal Doomed
(Memory Lanes, 2520 26th Ave. S., Minneapolis, 612.721.6211)

This lineup should be filled with drama. Butcher's Bag perform rock with a vaudevillian twist, and sometimes sport blood and zombie gear. The Church of Abject Sorrows draw their inspiration from the sorrow of humanity. Cry Coyote like skulls, a lot. Royal doomed round out the evening with psychobilly. 10 p.m.
