Taking place at the Guthrie the evenings of May 5th, 6th, and 7th, Cadence is a three-night series curated by reliably erudite writer/rapper/poet and fresh from tour Dessa -- a celebration of sorts and an event that will end up somewhere between heady oratory, ensemble performance, and musical chairs. In the announcement she explains: "I like melancholy music, I like smart writing, I like brave people, and I like dancing. So each night will have some of all those."

Putting your trust in one of the Cities' most refined literateurs -- with a stable of wicked sharp and diverse artists backing her -- to deliver an event worth attending is not too hard, methinks.
