Nigerian juju master King Sunny Ade was scheduled to perform at the Cedar Cultural Center this Saturday night with his band the Sunny Beats, but a car accident that took the lives of two of his bandmates has forced Ade to cancel the remainder of his current tour. See below for an official statement from Ade's management, and visit the Cedar's site for information about their ticket refund policy.
We regret to inform you that King Sunny Ade¹s scheduled concerts in Chicago (April 16, 2010),  Minneapolis ( April 17th, 2010) and Lincoln, Neb. ( April 18th, 2010)have been cancelled.  On March 26, 2010, two members of King Sunny Ade¹s band, Gabriel Ayanniyi (talking drum) and Omo Olope (percussion), were killed in a car accident, while on their way to a music video shoot. "Gabriel was a great protégée talking drum player that everyone in Nigeria was talking about," says Ade's U.S. manager Andy Frankel. "These musicians' deaths is a great loss."
