His Mischief, Peter Wolf Crier, the Earl Root tribute and more this weekend

​Every year about this time for as long as we at Gimme Noise can remember (and for some of us, that's a long time), rock show crowds tend to thin out right when the weather gets nice. Yep, from your hardest-partying hipster to your mopiest darksider, everyone suddenly has the fever to see some daylight. We urge you to fight this instinct: you need to be in dirty bars and clubs getting your late-night rock on! Lucky for you this weekend there's plenty of great shows that will keep you sleeping in until noon the next day:

FRIDAY

Alt-hip hop all-star Sage Francis comes to town in First Ave's Mainroom with Free Moral Agents and B.Dolan, 18+, 8 PM, $17 advance/$18 at the door.

The Turf Club hosts Peter Wolf Crier's record release party with guests Kill the Vultures. 21+, 10 PM, $6 advance/$8 at the door.

His Mischief (featured in this week's 5 Questions) play their only show of the summer with the Millionth Word and Hello Blue at the 501, 21+, 10 PM, free.

Looking for less rock, more talk? The STNNNG's Chris Besinger headlines a spoken word event at Grumpy's Downtown tonight in celebration of the publication of his new book of poetry and lyrics. 21+, 9 PM, free.

SATURDAY

Metal Metal Metal at Station Four, as the Root of All Evil metal massacre pays tribute to Twin Cities metal guitarist, radio host, record geek, and all around legend Earl Root, who passed away a couple years years ago. 18+, 4 PM doors, $10.

First Communion Afterparty play a free all-ages show at Franklin Art Works at 8 PM.

Eclipse Records hosts an all ages show with Reflection City, Dragons Power Up!, City On The Make, and Vanity White, 7 PM, $5.

 

SUNDAY

Dante and the Lobster play Sauce with Moonstone Continuum, Tender Meat, and Larry Wish, 21+, 9:30 PM, free.
