As we hinted at yesterday, Jayhawk Mark Olson is planning to release a new solo album on Ryko this summer, and today we have more details: Olson's follow-up to his stellar 2007 solo revelation, Salvation Blues, will be called Many Colored Kite, and will be released on July 27, 2010.

The new record will also be Olson's first with the Ryko label. "Mark Olson is a truly iconic American singer/songwriter and Ryko is honored to welcome him to our family," says Ruby Marchand, Head of A&R for Ryko. According to the release, Many Colored Kite has an "earthy, neo-folk feel that encompasses classic and '60s British folk as well as the "desert country" he's been associated with in the past," and includes collaborations with vocalists Jolie Holland and Vashti Bunyan.
