It's been a while since we've heard from Fort Wilson Riot, who received heaps of critical praise for their 2007 album and theatrical performance Idigaragua -- but the band's core duo, Jacob Mullis and Amy Hager, are quietly preparing to release a long-awaited follow-up to their debut. And this time, Mullis says, they are moving in a decidedly poppier direction.

"We definitely wanted to make an accessible record this time around as a change from Idigaragua," Mullis says. "Basically we wanted craft songs that were equal parts catchy, and unique to our style of writing."

The duo will release their new album, Predator/Prey, on July 30 with a show at the Kitty Cat Klub -- and to whet their fans' appetite, they are offering up a free download of the album's first single, "All My Friends." Though the band has pared down to a two-piece, their new song maintains the grandiose nature of their past work, a daring feat for only two players. Download it by right-clicking the link below.

Catch the band live this weekend when they play the City Pages stage at the Stone Arch Festival of the Arts; they go on at 2:15 p.m. this Sunday.
