Interpol making the trek back to the Twin Cities

When that U2 tour with Interpol was canceled, the hopes of a multi-million dollar, 360 degree viewing stage and expensive as all hell light show in a football stadium were sufficiently slashed. But hang tight; we're getting one of those artists back in town later this season.

Interpol will be heading back to the Twin Cities based on an earlier promise they made to fans, and will be hitting up First Ave on August 14. This comes on the heels of their re-signing with Matador Records, definitely a good thing if you have felt their previous albums have become a bit lackluster. The veteran indie label is home to Yo La Tengo, Shearwater, and the late Jay Reatard.

And to top it off, their touring line-up will feature Dave Pajo, formerly of Slint, and the biggie: Brandon Curtis of Secret Machines prominence.

Tickets go on sale June 26, which coincidentally is this week, and don't expect spots in the Mainroom to stay for this one. Their new, self-titled album will be out September 7.

Full tour dates can be found at their website.
