Also- Your vs. You're Even though you're and your sound the same, they mean two very different things. You're is actually a contraction of "you are," as in "You're an asshole." Contractions like this are especially common in spoken English. Your is a possessive adjective. It describes a noun by telling us to whom it belongs, as in, "I love your new issue of Runners World!" Other possessive adjectives are: my, his, her, their, and our.

• Darin - Your trite and ridiculous ranting only serve to show a larger Minneapolis community your real personality. Unfortunately for you, this is a bad thing. I hope that musicians who read this blog - or anyone for that matter - make the correct decision not to hire you based on your lack of respect for anyone or anything. You attack people without knowing anything about them. My guess is you don't know where Jen's written beyond City Pages. Obviously because Anonymous is anonymous, you can't possibly know anything about that person and therefore cannot comment on his/her level of talent. Also, there are plenty of great photographers who still shoot for City Pages, so to say they've left is an incorrect and uninformed statement. If you even TRY to tell me photographers like Dan Corrigan, Steve Cohen or Tony Nelson are not good and talented photographers, you are sorely mistaken. Also, YOU ARE = you're. "Your" is possessive and the way you are using it is wrong.

• Yeah, I was commenting on this comment thread, not the whole kitten thing. It's pretty silly. Lots of personal attacks, and every thing's being taken way out of proportion. I mean, do you people all know each other or something? It all just seems weird. Why battle publicly on the message board for an article if you guys all know each other? Your rage incidents are your best moments, Please have the fortitude to keep it in the permanent record when you say it and not delete it later when you're sober. Why do you get so worked up about City Pages anyway? I personally defend the way you run that awesome Westerberg shot into the ground by using it as your only profile picture.

• I know it's off topic of the original post, but I gotta say I think anonymous is right about the overload of "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" between music writers and musicians. In the traditional standards of journalism, this sort of relationship between the author and the subject would be classified "unethical". It's interesting how many cultural critics aren't held to the same standards, for better or for worse. I don't think it's just a Minneapolis thing though... Dback - you're taking this blog too seriously. It's a fun blog. Also any publicity isn't necessarily good publicity. Regardless, I like the kitties and puppies. They don't have not much to do with music, but they're cute and fun!

• I think many forgot that the internet is pretty much full of this stuff and being that no one is wasting paper on this but just having fun, I say do it. One could just focus on the music and all that but that is what seeing live music and listening to records is for. No article about music is ever as good as listening to music or seeing it live so why not have the little break from the action for something else. I bet no one complaining about this article went to the parade and great show put on by Danimal and Jackie of Brute Heart tonight. I am fine with people being critical but offer something else up that is interesting.

• ...because things that are FUN and not 100% serious should NEVER be posted on something like a MUSIC BLOG. Especially compared to the other media sources in the Cities, CityPages has no shortage of legit album reviews, show previews, artist interviews, and the like. They're doing their jobs. When they fail to deliver on those things, then we can spend our time complaining about their priorities. Until then, how about you just don't read it, if it makes you so angry? Can't help but think that anyone who would get so worked up over something as absolutely silly as this must have major insecurity issues. Try loosening up. Life should be fun. And, at times, cute.

• I want to know EVERYTHING about local musicians. They are LIVING GODS. What is their favorite color? What is their favorite vegetable? Seriously, if you have cute kitten and puppy posts, why not have it on the audiences' pets? Are they not as valid??? The massage train of local artists / music reviewers is good to a point. ...then it gets to be too much. I think we have some amazing music being put out in the TC, but we can't just go for whatever is "cool" or popular. That's where the scene implodes or begins to wither. Step it up, Mpls music reviewers - or you'll take everyone down with you.
