A week after being arrested in Indianapolis on what has been reported by several sources as charges of battery, public intoxication, and resisting law enforcement, Justin Townes Earle, traveling troubadour and son of famed singer Steve Earle, has announced that he is canceling the remainder of his tour dates and entering rehab.

"Unfortunately, reports surfacing online about the incident in Indianapolis are not accurate," Earle said in a prepared statement. "I have been advised by counsel that I should not comment on a pending criminal matter, but suffice to say that I am looking forward to having my day in court. I would also like to say that I oppose violence against women in any form."

Earle was scheduled to perform at First Avenue on Saturday, October 9 in support of his new album, Harlem River Blues. Earle's publicist insists that he will make up his tour dates pending his recovery, and that his performances are "suspended," not canceled.
