In preparation for their forthcoming box set (BRING THE NOISE, HITS, VIDS, and DOC BOX: GREATEST SITES AND SOUNDS), Public Enemy dropped a new video for "Say it Like it Really Is" this morning, and it includes snapshots of inspirational public figures, activists, and musicians ranging from Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. to Queen Latifah, Rage Against the Machine, Michael Franti, and more. As familiar faces flash across the screen, one stands out in particular: At the 3:54 mark, it's none other than Minneapolis's Brother Ali.
Awesome. We'll actually be auctioning off 4 autographed Brother Ali CDs, along with 4 autographed Atmosphere CDs, at the Perpich Foundation benefit this weekend on the Mississippi.
We'll be boarding a paddle boat and jamming out to such acts as:
Eyedea, I.L.I.C.I.T., Kristoff Krane, Carnage, Know Breaks and Maybe Saints.
There's a silent auction going on too! It's all for a great cause -- spreading and increasing the quality of arts education in Minnesota schools. Check out the website for details.
So City Pages, please don't delete this comment, especially since we couldn't get any much-needed media coverage for some reason... No one's making bank off this. It's all for Perpich!
