Tricky returns to the Twin Cities December 14

2010 has been a big year for mid-'90s revivalism. Pavement reunited and toured the country. Liz Phair played her 1993 breakout album from start to finish. Bone Thugs are back. Superchunk put out a new album. All things considered, aren't we about due for a trip-hop resurgence?

Among the first wave of successful trip-hop artists was Tricky, an early member of Massive Attack and a pioneering solo artist, who had a hand in bringing the Bristol music scene global. But unlike so many of his contemporaries, Tricky never quite faded away; instead, he has continued to evolve and release albums, including his latest, Mixed Race, which is due out October 5.

So for Tricky's return, we don't even have to call it a comeback: he will swing through Minneapolis to play the Varsity Theater on December 14 in support of Mixed Race. Tickets are on sale now.
