Fistful of Mercy on Conan tonight, featuring Minneapolis expat Jessy Greene
As per usual, Conan's music choices have been nothing short of impeccable. He was able to wrangle his buddy, Jack White, who produced and released this year's "Conan O'Brien Live at Third Man" vinyl-only release to lead the new "Basic Cable Band" through the Eddie Cochran stomper, "Twenty Flight Rock," while last night Soundgarden made their first television appearance in 13 years to debut a new song "Black Rain" sounding as heavy and gnarly as when they left off.
Local music fans will want to watch close on tonight's program as former Minneapolitan Jessy Greene will be gracing the the stage with the band she's spent the past year tooling around with, super-group Fistful of Mercy. Though they've yet to come to the Twin Cities, the band that features Ben Harper, Joseph Arthur and Dhani Harrison has been bringing its country-fied sound to stages across the country and will be spending next month in Europe to promote their excellent 2010 debut, As I Call You Down.
