The sudden closing of the Turf Club displaced about a week and a half's worth of shows, including Saturday's much-anticipated final show by MC/VL with Pink Mink, Slapping Purses, and Kitten Forever. Luckily, the hip-hop duo were able to dovetail their show with another big bash happening that night: The farewell show at the 501 Club with legendary local rocker Curtiss A.

All five bands will perform Saturday night, according to 501 co-owner Jarret Oulman, which should make for a surreal melding of local music spheres on the night of many goodbyes.

Staff say that there are also "special guests" expected to appear, perhaps during Slapping Purses' set (the one-man dance-thrash band was joined by local rappers Mike Mictlan, Jeremy Nutzman, and newcomer Claire Monesterio during his New Year's Eve set in the Entry).

Vicious Lee of MC/VL summarized it best: "It's pretty much going to be like Wrestlemania 3 in that fucker."

The cover charge will still be $7.
