Turns out Atmosphere's new localvore single "Minnesota Nice" was just the group's way of tiding fans over until they were ready to announce the release of their next full length, as they announced today that their seventh official full length album, The Family Sign, will drop on April 12.

The Family Sign finds "Slug metaphorically touching on themes of fatherhood, loss, love, disappointment and jubilation," says the press release, "and tailoring them to the instrumental frame work provided by Ant as well as keyboardist Erick Anderson and guitarist Nate Collis."

Slug's work has been especially introspective of late, especially on the group's latest series of EPs, To All My Friends, Blood Makes The Blade Holy, so the lyrical content of the new album should come as no surprise to fans. It will also mark Atmosphere's first release since the loss of their longtime labelmate, tour mate, and friend, Eyedea.
