10 best Beavis and Butthead moments

Yesterday the news leaped forth from the Internet that everyone's favorite (hopefully not only in retrospect) latchkey simpletons Beavis and Butthead are returning to MTV sometime later this year, part of a top-to-bottom restructuring of MTV's corporate posture.

While the news wasn't entirely new -- their return has been rumored since last summer -- it does leave us a bit of room to reminisce, doesn't it?

The early days

This rough, early version of Beavis and Butthead reminds us a little of the rough Simpsons first clips on The Tracey Ullman Show, but instead of being syrupy sweet it's...so very very not syrupy sweet. I can't believe this was on at, like, 6 p.m.

Dousing the fire of Winger with the water of ridicule

Beavis and Butthead mocked Winger incessantly in the form of their pussy neighbor Stewart, who constantly wore their t-shirt and generally made them look bad. While the band wasn't any worse than Ratt or Poison or whatever, they never quite recovered from a new generation thinking they were something akin to Yanni.

Beavis and Butthead on Letterman, and as Letterman

"Essentially you guys are like what, idiots? You're nuts?" Coming to Dave's show to promote their movie, Beavis and Butthead Do America, Beavis and Butthead make one of their rare "live" appearances. B'genius.

Beavis and Butthead in...a Sega Genesis

If I'm remembering correctly, this game was impossible. Or incredibly easy? It was a bad game.

The video game for Sega was awesome! How dare you. For the day, i'd say it was one of the better games. It wasn't impossible....you just needed to do things in the right order and grab the right objects. It was a hybrid of point of click adventure games and a platformer. There were a few bosses, like Mr. Anderson on the lawnmower.

The SNES version sucked.

Good list, but no mention of The Great Cornholio??

CORNHOLIO. I should obviously have pointed out his inextricable link to "Fire! Fire!" But alas.
