As the puddles begin to accumulate from the ground up with the long awaited spring thaw that's in full motion, I can't help but notice a certain "joie de vivre" in the air. Growing more and more tired of looking at my reflection in the snow-covered hills that line the sidewalks, I immediately sensed something Sunday night as I entered the club for the Gayngs Affiliyated lovefest at First Avenue.
After all, as much as we're smitten with the fresh originality that stems through the pavement of Twin Cities local scene, it's ultimately the players who only love you when they're playing and their take on nostalgic '80s hits that even quicker unite an audience as was evidenced with Har Mar Superstar's swoon-worthy take on George Michael, Ganygs nod to Godley and Creme, and Megafaun's stoned-to-the-bone set of jukebox favorites Sunday night.
And so will likely be the case in the latest musical tribute to grace the Turf Club in Saint Paul this coming Saturday, as five of the Twin Cities' finest hitmakers pay tribute to the magic of Fleetwood Mac.
Kicking off the evening is Littlefoot -- who, if you show up early and stay will promise you at least an evening's worth of heaven with Vampire Hands, Me and My Arrow, Nightinghales and Invisible Boy following suit.
Check out Littlefoot's thumping rendering of Heart's "What About Love?" from a recent appearance at the Lovepower Church:
Assembled by some of the local scene's most active gypsies, including Hot Roxx DJ's, who will be providing a Fleetwood mix, and local artist and Yeti Records co-impressario Lisa Luck, who whisked together this beautiful painting to promote the night.
