Tapes 'n Tapes headline the Gimme Noise and First Avenue SXSW Day Party
Austin never saw it coming. Two weeks from today, legions of Twin Cities musicians, writers, photographers, booking agents, managers, radio DJs, and straight-up music fiends will descend onto Texas for five days of nonstop music at the SXSW festival.

When we took our Minnesota SXSW roll call, we didn't realize just how many local folks were heading down to the festival this year, and we're impressed -- this year, twice as many Minnesota bands were accepted into the festival as official acts than in 2010, and another 20+ are heading down to play at unofficial parties.

Naturally, Gimme Noise had to get in the mix. For the first time ever, and in partnership with Minneapolis's premier rock club, First Avenue, Gimme Noise is presenting a free day party during SXSW that showcases some of our finest Minnesota talent.

Check out this lineup: Tapes 'n Tapes, Solid Gold, Sims, Jeremy Messersmith, Sick of Sarah, Marijuana Deathsquads, the Goondas, and the Get Cryphy DJs will keep Skinny's Ballroom hopping all afternoon on Friday, March 18. And to top it off, Tiger Beer has generously provided us with complimentary beer to offer our guests.

Set times:

12:45 p.m. The Goondas
1:30 p.m. Marijuana Deathsquads
2:15 p.m. Sick Of Sarah
3:00 p.m. Jeremy Messersmith
3:45 p.m. Sims
4:30 p.m. Solid Gold
5:15 p.m. Tapes N Tapes

We're beside ourselves. Can you even stand it? Good thing it's only a little over two weeks away...

This sounds excellent. Has there ever been a NXMW (midwest) festival?
