Hastings 3000 tour diary, Vol. 6
In the desert between Los Angeles and Las Vegas is a new monster's playground -- I have a connection with the burnt orange sun over the dunes and brush, it makes me get out of the car and strum guitar while I film a 3000 hitchhiker stance.
After sunny Los Angeles came Sin City -- the Double Down Saloon, where the energy was high! The 6 ft 9 in. 300 lb. bouncer comes up to me and hands me an envelope with cash and 14 drink tickets and says, "You can start playing whenever you want, if a fight breaks out, keep playing -- we'll handle it." I immediately fell in love with the Double Down Saloon in Vegas.
Here is another video clip of the monsters multiplying at the Peppermill (if you look close you can see four monsters into eight!) feeling the effects of the wonderful spirits, roaring fire and the sweet sounds of pre-breakdown Britney Spears. All with the anticipation of the crazy live stream from Hawaii to Minneapolis.
After the hitting the awesome Double Down Saloon in Vegas, the next day I drove back five hours to downtown Los Angeles for the show at the Redwood Bar.
I started the show outside playing guitar wirelessly and jumped onto the bar, immediately a girl started cheering, and I guess her boyfriend didn't like that so much. He proceeded to try to light my crotch on fire with a seven inch flame -- luckily my fire-retardent white polyester suit handled the heat just fine.
Later on, I had a few girls ask about the "white suit," I responded saying that its a "White Devil" suit, a reference to a song that I've been playing on this tour. It is on my first album, A New Monster.
The song itself is a cryptic reference to the first nationers being violently displaced by other peoples from other lands.
That was a surprising cool "pirate" energy at the bar! I sold a bunch of gas masks, but people were too freaked to actually put them on. I guess they just wanted an extra gas mask around the house.
Tune in next week for Hasting 3000's final tour diary for Gimme Noise, where he will recap the rest of his adventures abroad in Japan.
