Phoebe Snow dies at 58

​Singer-songwriter and guitarist Phoebe Snow, who came to prominence in 1975 for her hit "Poetry Man," has died at the age of 58. According to the Associated Press, Snow suffered a brain hemorrhage in January of 2010, and has since dealt with "bouts of blood clots, pneumonia and congestive heart failure." Her death was caused by complications following her stroke.

Snow started as a folk guitarist and toyed with jazz and blues styles. She was signed to her first record contract in 1972, but by the early '80s she dropped out of the limelight to care for her daughter, who was born with brain damage, and only performed sporadically. Shortly before she suffered her stroke in 2010, Snow had started planning to record a new album and embark on a tour.
