Seven months after the passing of musician Michael "Eyedea" Larsen, Rhymesayers will be releasing the final studio recordings of the freestyle/improv band Face Candy, which he had founded and been a part of since 2005.

Described by Mikey himself as "raw and honest, something therapeutic," Face Candy combined the improvisational talents of co-MC Kristoff Krane and a rhythm section made up of drummer J.T. Bates and bassist Casey O'Brien, who provided a foundation of grooves and scattered rhythms for the two to freely explore verses, words and essentially works in progress that would often inspire some of Larsen's best work.

The 15-track Waste Age Teen Land, the band's second LP, is set for a May 24 release date. Recorded last October right before Eyedea's untimely death, the collection represents not only the culmination of his life's work, but in many ways stands as the pinnacle of a form of hip-hop, rock and jazz that stays very unique to the Twin Cities, defining a genre that Larsen helped create and pioneer.

In anticipation of Waste Age Teen Land, Rhymesayers has started to roll out what they're calling Wasted Teens, a series of local players and friends of Face Candy sitting under a bridge describing their impressions of the outfit, music and memories of Michael.

Set to be released as deluxe CD and vinyl picture disc with a DVD of videos and unreleased gems, the new record will stand as a true benchmark in the Twin Cities music scene and an honorable memoriam to the friend and musician the world lost last fall.

With each track only titled as a number, Face Candy has posted "Fifteen," the final cut on Waste Age Teen Land.

In addition to being slated to perform at this Summer's big Soundset 2011 event in Shakopee, Face Candy are hosting a smattering of listening and screening parties for the release starting this week.
