Titus Andronicus and Craig Finn cover the Replacements' "Kids Don't Follow"

Last night, the biggest indie scenesplosion ever rattled the Bowery Ballroom in Manhatten as contemporary bands like tUnE-yArDs, St. Vincent, Ted Leo gathered to pay homage to Michael Azerrad's 2001 book Our Band Could Be Your Life on its 10-year anniversary. Among the highlights posted on Pitchfork today is a video of Titus Andronicus tearing through the Replacements' "Kids Don't Follow," complete with a cameo by Craig Finn, who played the part of the police officer busting up the party at the beginning of the song.

In the original version of the song, Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum can be heard shouting a hearty "Fuck you!" back to the cops -- and the audience at last night's show in NYC did their best to recreate that moment as well. Pirner, of course, was back home in Minneapolis recovering from his guitar smash-fest at Friday night's Tommy Stinson show at First Avenue, a decidedly tamer event than the Bowery's shindig last night that had indie cool kids of all stripes crowd surfing along with the music.
