Has anyone declared this national Bon Iver Day yet? Might wanna think about that. Hot on the heels of yesterday's 9.5 rating from Pitchfork
and appearance on last night's Colbert Report, the Justin Vernon-led project is dropping their sophomore record, Bon Iver, Bon Iver
, to a deafening roar of feedback today.
To coincide with the album's release, the band has revealed its first Twin Cities date in three years
this morning: Bon Iver will play the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis on Wednesday, September 7. Canadian singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards -- who also happens to be Justin Vernon's girlfriend -- will open, and tickets go on sale this Friday
Bon Iver's segments took up a large portion of last night's Colbert Report, and the band helped him kick off a week of musical performances that he's dubbed "Dr. Pepper Presents StePhest Colbchella '011: Rock You Like A Thirst-icane" that will also bring Florence and the Machine, Jack White, and Talib Kweli to the show this week.
Here's Colbert interviewing Justin Vernon:
