Kare-11 selecting five Minnesotans to compete on 'The Voice'
![]() |
Last season, Twin Cities mainstay Tim Mahoney made it past the first round of auditions on The Voice when he was singled out by Adam Levine, who offered to coach Mahoney and help him compete for the $100,000 grand prize. He was cut him from Levine's team in a later episode as the contest progressed.
Kare-11 is asking musicians to submit a recording of themselves "belting out" one of the following: "America the Beautiful," "Auld Lang Syne," "Give My Regards to Broadway," "The Star Spangled Banner," "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," or one of the other songs in the public domain. Kare-11 will select 11 finalists, and then will put it up for a public vote. The top five chosen will be flown out to L.A. for the auditions.
Interested in trying out? Read all the fine print and upload your recordings here. And please, we beg of you, let us know if you make it into the finals, as we'll be interested to see if more familiar faces from our Twin Cities scene make it onto the show.
