Avid Gimme Noise readers will know that we've been pretty stoked about Astronautalis's recent move to Minneapolis. The Floridia-born rapper is a fierce performer and gifted freestyler, and he's a natural addition to our already bursting-at-the-seams hip-hop scene.

When we interviewed Astronautalis about his move to the Twin Cities this June, he mentioned that he was gearing up for the release of his new full-length, This is Our Science, which boasts collaborations with like-minded Twin Cities-based hip-hop artists like P.O.S., Cecil Otter, Lazerbeak, and Sims.

The record drops September 13, but this week Astronautalis unleashed a sneak peek: The first single, "Dimitri Mendeleev," which is named after the chemist who created the periodic table of elements. You can download the track for free by clicking the black arrow in the player below.

Crank the intro through headphones or loud stereo speakers -- it'll turn your brain inside-out.
