Bassgasm 5 to feature headliner Mark Farina

Get your ears ready

Solidifying itself as the loudest show in the city, the Bassgasm brand is now on its fifth installment of smashing ear-drums with a local and national dance music showcase at First Avenue.

After a mighty sweaty (and of course, loud) party this past July, McBride decided to go right ahead and book another go-round at the club, this time featuring one of modern dance music's most popular DJs, Mark Farina.

Scheduling the show as a leg of his Mushroom Jazz World Tour featuring his brand of jazzified house music, Farina makes another stop in Minneapolis on September 23 for a Mainroom-only show supported by old school DNB duo Faust & Shortee and local acts including Centrific, Sexbotz, HotDish & more.

We asked McBride about the show and here's what he had to tell us.

Another Bassgasm show, just a few months after the last one! How come?

We know how to throw a good party and the fall is one of most cherished times of the year which can make it all the better.

How do you think Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz will go over in a room with a crowd who followed your shows featuring heavier-sounding music?

Mark Farina, one of the world's most famous DJ/Producer/Remixers will play Deep Mushroom Jazz and Powerful Soulful House Music on one of the best sound systems in the world. Sounds like magic to me.

What have you learned about your audience after 5 shows?

Bassgasmers are sophisticated electronic music fans. Like good lovers we like it fast, sometimes slow, sometimes under strobelights, sometimes in outerspace. We don't eat the same thing everyday. Sometimes Sushi, sometimes vegetarian, sometimes one of the best burgers in town from The Depot, sometimes just more bass.

Who will be the surprise favorite of the lineup?

Urban Assault (aka DMC Champ DJ Shortee & DJ Faust) are Beatport.com chart smashing DJ/Producer/Remixers that are one of the most exciting things I have booked yet. They will play dubstep, DNB, electro... it will be amazing.
