In my recap of the Pizza Luce Block Party
from this weekend, I remarked that the free fest might end up being the highlight of the summer concert season. But it looks like we'll have a few other worthy contenders before the season is up -- two more late summer block party lineups have been revealed recently, and they're coming up fast.
First up is a Labor Day Weekend block party organized by the Link MN, a nonprofit formed by two former Vikings in the early '90s that aims to help at-risk youth. They are throwing their party in the Nomad Pub parking lot with headliners Solid Gold, who have been debuting a lot of material of late, and Howler, who have been receiving loads of lavish praise overseas in the U.K.
Admission is free, but the nonprofit is charging $5 for drink wristbands to go to the cause. Here's the full lineup:

Additionally, the Lyn-Lake street fest will return with an Oktoberfest version next month and a dance and experimental electronic-heavy lineup, with chilled-out pop headliners Mystery Palace, Chicago-based mashup duo the Hood Internet, and noise improvisationalists Marijuana Deathsquads. The Lyn-Lake Oktoberfest is being presented by the Herkimer and will take place in the parking lot between the VFW and 29th St. in Uptown.
