If you're looking for the party to usher in the fall, look no further than the Minneapolis College of Art and Design's 125th Anniversary bash tomorrow night. Of course, the point is to celebrate the endurance and commitment to artistic innovation of one of our nation's top ten design schools.... But can we just say, the art kids certainly know how to throw a party.

The nonprofit has a great big fancy gala, sure, but we all know the afterparty is really where it's at. To celebrate 125 years of awesomeness, MCAD is bringing in nationally renowned turbtablist Paul D. Miller, a.k.a. DJ Spooky.

Miller is far more than your average spin doctor, putting grooves on the floor for nubile bodies to glide to. His extensive career as a multimedia artist, writer, and producer has led Miller to explore themes in trip hop and beyond. Miller's most recent studio release, the Secret Song (2009), was more music meets social commentary, as Miller's thought trajectory expounded on the reliance of digital media in music and culture. In some circles, Miller is regarded as an anthropology-focused artist before he is thought of as a musician.

No wonder, then, that MCAD is bringing him in to run their "pARTy." Miller is sure to bring in a lot more than just beats.

The after party runs from 8:30 p.m.--12 a.m. If you are interested in purchasing tickets for $50, you can go here. In addition to DJ Spooky, the after party will feature art and entertainment by MCAD students, including a variety of student-produced films.
