Eleanor Mondale Poling filmed singing the Suburbs' 'Love is the Law'

​We were heartbroken to learn over the weekend that Eleanor Mondale Poling, daughter of former Vice President Walter Mondale and wife of the Suburbs' Chan Poling, passed away at the age of 51 after battling brain cancer. Eleanor and Chan Poling were married in 2005, and those close to the couple called their relationship "a beautiful romance."

Though there really are no words to soften the blow of this loss, I did come across a video today that pays tribute to the couple in a very sweet, simple way. Minneapolis-based videographer Chuck Olsen, who you may recognize from his work with the Uptake and MN Original, posted a short video clip of some behind-the-scenes footage he compiled while documenting a photo shoot with Eleanor and Mpls/St.Paul Magazine. After goofing around a bit and asking if any audio was being recorded, Eleanor says that her favorite Suburbs tune is "Love is the Law" and breaks into song. It's a very touching moment, and especially poignant this week.
