Hanson probably haven't been on many of our radars since their omnipresent 1997 megahit, "MMMBop," faded from collective memory. But the band has actually remained quite active since then, releasing a string of full-length albums and touring in support of their slightly more nuanced, soul-inspired pop sound.
The band will be coming through Minneapolis on October 2 to perform in First Avenue's Mainroom, and we want to send a reader and their friend to the show for free. As a bonus, the winner will also receive an autographed copy of Hanson's most recent album, Shout it Out.
To enter our Hanson ticket and CD giveaway, simply follow these two steps:
1. "Like" us on Facebook, which you can do right here (if you already "Like us", you're halfway there!):
2. Leave a comment below telling us why you want to see Hanson. (Be sure to leave a working email address in the proper field when you comment, as this is how we will contact our winners. Your contact information will not be used for any other purpose.)
We will leave the contest open through tomorrow and draw a winner at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 15.

I would like to go to the Hanson show, because the band has evolved musically over the years and they are at the top of their game for live performances. Not only is Hanson an amazing band, they also give back to charity. In past tours they have walked barefoot before shows to raise money and awareness of HIV and poverty in Africa. I have joined them on several walks and it feels good to know you are supporting a band that cares about the global community. A Hanson show is a chance to escape for a night and lose yourself in the music. They inspire me to be better. This is why I will continue to support Hanson and why I would love to go to the show at First Avenue. Jennifer,

When I was 15, I forced my father to drive me and a friend to Tulsa to literally stalk the boys in their hometown. Visited their childhood home, the first venue they played at, ect. Waited at MOA for 12 hrs to see them, even followed them on tour!!! I AM THEIR BIGGEST FAN! I WILL BEAR TAYLORS CHILD! Ha, jk, he's already got 6. Pick me pick me!!!
I was 12 years old when "Mmmbop" hit...I walked around for WEEKS with the single in my discman. As the boys grew older and their music gained maturity, I followed along...but I'll always be most in love with "Mmmbop". I want to go the First Ave show and relive the 90s for a couple of hours :)
I have always been a Hanson fan and am proud to say so. I show it proudly on my facebox profile (and everywhere else). When I was a young lass in NC, I went to as many of their shows as possible and now I see them when they come to Minneapolis but have missed a lot of their latest shows. Hanson puts on a great show and I would love AN AUTOGRAPHED CD!!!
I was a huge fan of Hanson back in my junior high days, but I never got to see them perform live! Then, a few years ago, I actually able to catch a show. My best friend from growing up and I went to the concert. It was so fun to be in a club, surrounded by other 20-somethings that still knew every word to their old tunes. Not to mention...their new music is FANTASTIC!
Oh how I MMMLove Hanson! I would really like to see them and connect with some of my besties from 1997, and to enjoy their newer music as well. Pick me, please!!!
