Mayda releases music video for 'The Panthers'

​City Pages' favorite R&B sensation Mayda doesn't open up to many people, so Gimme Noise was fortunate enough to get behind-the-scenes access during her latest video shoot. Today marks the release date of her newest single "The Panthers" from her album Tusks in Furs, and we are the first to bring it to you. The theme of her new album is survival, and her sophisticated funky style doesn't overshadow the fact that she can do more than just survive the Twin Cities music scene. She'll rock a show anywhere -- from the Stone Arch Bridge, to the stage at First Avenue, to an abandoned warehouse. There is no question this woman is at the head of the pack. Here is the world premiere of her video, "The Panthers." Tusks in Furs drops September 24 with a release show at the Cedar Cultural Center.
