Prince tied into crazy 9-11 conspiracy

With chatter about 9/11 reaching a fever pitch this week, it was only a matter of time before someone started a crazy rumor connecting a celebrity to the attacks. And if a rumor's going to swirl that someone besides Nostradamus predicted the events of 9/11, well, yeah, it makes sense that somehow Prince would be involved.

I mean, think about it, he's a Jehovah's Witness. (I don't even know what that has to do with anything, I'm just trying to get into the paranoid conspiracy theorist mindset.)

According to a SUPER REVEALING YOUTUBE VIDEO unearthed by Wonkette, Prince "predicted" the 9/11 attacks back in 1998 during a concert in the Netherlands. Between songs, Prince half-sang, half-rapped these eerie words: "I gotta go back to America. I gotta get ready for the bomb. Osama bin Laden gettin' ready to bomb! Osama bin Laden gettin' ready to bomb! America, you'd better watch out. 2001 -- hit me!"

In the past 24 hours, users on conspiracy forum Godlike Productions have flooded a thread about Prince with little blinky GIFs of flashing police lights to express their alarm over this discovery, so, you know, it must be serious.

It's actually not the first time a musician has been cited for somehow "predicting" what happened on September 11, 2001. A couple of years ago, someone posted a clip of an absolutely insufferable Liam Gallagher appearing on MTV's TRL pre-9/11, in which he peered out the window toward the Twin Towers and muttered something about paying his respects before they blow up. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what he said. It was hard to pay attention after he said he was feeling "Godlike."

Perhaps the most unsettling 9/11-related musical moment (at least in my memory) was Ryan Adams' music video for "New York, New York," which prominently featured the Twin Towers and was filmed a mere four days prior to the attacks. If there really is a Nostradamus living among us, Adams might be it. But probably not.

What's funny about the Ryan Adams video is that it was the 2nd one shot. First one was shot entirely in a taxi, but Ryan was so "out of it" he kept forgetting and messing up the lyrics. So they scrapped that and just did this more basic video.I could see Prince and Nostradamus being friends...for obvious reasons. Really, I just love the ridiculousness of this whole thing.
