Sugarhill Gang playing halftime show at Sunday's Lynx game

In an odd bit of symmetry, we learned that the Sugarhill Gang will be performing a halftime show at this Sunday's Lynx game just a few short hours after hearing of the death of Sugar Hill Records' Sylvia Robinson, whose most notable contribution to hip-hop was her production work on the Sugarhill Gang's hit "Rapper's Delight."

Our state's women's basketball team is especially fond of the Sugarhill song "Apache," which has been their official song since 2006 and is played during the team's pregame video and during the postgame dance following victories.

Sunday's Lynx game against the Atlanta Dream is Game 1 of the 2011 WBNA Finals, the first time in the franchise's history that they have advanced this far in the playoffs. The game will take place at the Target Center, and they will be opening up the upper level and selling tickets for as low as $15 in response to a high demand for seats.

Tickets for Sunday's game are available on the Minnesota Lynx website.
