Courtney Love says Frances Bean Cobain was conceived in Minneapolis

Oh, Courtney. She just can't give a straight answer, can she? In an interview about the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's breakout music video for "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Courtney Love took the opportunity to divulge several intimate details about her and Kurt Cobain's first... how shall we say... sheet meetings

And guess what? Apparently, back in '91 when she was on her way to Minneapolis to get frisky with Billy Corgan, she somehow changed plans en route and wound up in bed with Cobain instead -- and on that fateful night in the Omni Northstar Hotel in Minneapolis (now the Crowne Plaza), the now 19-year-old Frances Bean Cobain was made.

Gross overshare? Kinda cool? We're still on the fence about it. But here's the whole quote from the interview for reference:

Love: The first time Kurt and I slept together was at a Days Inn in Chicago. We were having our first postcoital moment, and we're watching MTV and the video came on. I pulled away from him, because it was his video, his moment, he was the king of the fucking world, and he put his arm around me and pulled me closer. Which was symbolic, like, "I'm letting you into my life." That really endeared him to me. The next time I saw the video with him was at the Omni Northstar Hotel in Minneapolis. I'd flown there to fuck Billy Corgan, who still had lots of hair. I didn't even know Nirvana were playing that night. Kurt and I wound up at the Northstar, and our daughter, Frances, was basically made that night. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was on MTV every five fucking minutes.

Read the whole interview series about the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video, which is actually pretty interesting and not all about Courtney's sex life, on New York Mag's site.

And just to bring things full circle, a Minneapolis celebration of the music of Hole will take place tomorrow night at the Ritz Theater when ex-Hole drummer Patty Schemel is in town for the screening of her new documentary, which will be preceded by a set of Hole covers performed by local rockers Pink Mink.
