Gwar fans can support Cory Smoot on new donation page

It was two weeks ago now that we learned of Cory Smoot of Gwar's passing, the news of which came only a few hours after we had posted our review of Gwar's set at First Avenue. Since that time, the band has continued touring relentlessly, claiming that it's the only way they know how to work through their grief, and today they have announced that there is a donation page set up to support Smoot's family.

The saddest revelation on Smoot's donation page is that not only did he leave behind a wife, Jaime, but she appears to be pregnant, as the Smoot Family Fund is said to benefit his unborn child.

"The response of our fans has been truly mind-blowing and we have done our best to honor Cory and help the fans with their loss by continuing our tour," the site reads. "Now we all have an opportunity to contribute to the memory of one of the greatest metal guitar players out there and one of the best people we have ever had the honor of knowing."

In related news, fans have started uploading their video footage of Smoot's last show in Minneapolis, some higher quality than others. Here's one of Gwar playing "Let Us Slay" at First Avenue (Smoot is on the far right):
