Lucinda Williams to play First Ave next Wednesday

Emmylou Harris has said of the alt-country songwriter, "She is an example of the best of what country at least says it is, but, for some reason, she's completely out of the loop and I feel strongly that that's country music's loss" and next Wednesday, Lucinda Williams will once again grace the First Avenue stage, where just over two years ago she married her manager, music executive Tom Overby, during a performance.

While it's true that Williams has been largely ignored by mainstream country audiences, her take on the folksier, bluesier, more rocking side of country has gained much critical acclaim, as well as a handful of Grammy nods, over thirty years of performing. So grab your tickets now for what's sure to be a great show. And hey, country fans: check out the artists that have provided her with inspiration over the years (courtesy of Country Living magazine), and take in Lucinda's country side after the jump to see what Emmylou's talking about.
