The Hold Steady's Craig Finn and Tad Kubler cover the 'Mats "Within Your Reach"
Craig Finn sure has been busy lately. In addition to putting the finishing touches on his first solo album, the "Friday Night Lights" inspired, Clear Heart Full Eyes, and plotting a subsequent solo tour, he and guitarist Tad Kubler took part in a Replacement's tribute show Wednesday night at Bowery Electric in New York City in advance of The Hold Steady's big show in town tonight.
They do a cover of the subdued Hootenany classic, "Within Your Reach," with Finn (proudly sporting a rad Minnesota Twins track jacket) even waxing nostalgic about getting introduced to the 'Mats through that album when he was a tennis playing 7th grader.
This performance was one of many special covers featured throughout the NYC 'Mats tribute, and Pitchfork has a few more videos from the night to check out (including a wild cover of "Bastards Of Young" by Finn, Titus Andronicus' Patrick Stickles, Tommy Ramone, and Jesse Malin).
