In this year's edition there are several musicians featured, including local performers Holly Newsom (of Zoo Animal) and Bethany Larson (who performs as Bethany Larson and the Bees Knees), as well as Oakland phenom Merrill Garbus of tUnE-yArDs, Carrie Brownstein of Wild Flag, and Detroit MC Danny Brown. Also in print this week, we take a look at Northeast's Pearl Studio, a relatively new venture from young brothers Zach and Noah Hollander. They've already recorded acts as disparate as 40-piece Kenyan choir, R&B singer Ann Nesby, indie-rock band Sleep Study, and pop signer-songwriter Dan Rodriquez, who says, "The place just oozes creativity and vibe.
